What is TV On Demand?
Ever streamed or downloaded a programme or film that wasn’t being shown on live TV? That’s watching TV using an On Demand service. You can pick what you want to watch and when you want to watch it. Here are the ways you can watch On Demand with us:
Free On Demand TV
Easily browse hundreds of series and films on our 360 box, with apps like BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, My5 and many more. Plus, with the Virgin TV Go app, you can take all the best telly with you by downloading your favourite films and TV programmes onto your mobile, tablet or computer.
Paid On Demand TV
Pay to watch additional TV services through either your TV subscription or apps, like Amazon Prime. Buy or rent entertainment from the Virgin Media Store simply by signing into the app on the 360 box. If that wasn’t easy enough, existing Netflix customers can now add this to their Virgin Media bill.
How do I choose a TV package?

1. Assess your household’s viewing habits
Before deciding on a suitable TV package, it’s important to consider what everyone in your household likes to watch. Conducting mini-interviews can be useful if you want to understand everyone’s preferred features and channels.
Consider asking questions such as:
- What are your favourite shows, movies or live sports – and why?
- Do you watch any of those on Netflix, Amazon or YouTube?
- Do you like to watch the latest TV and movie releases as soon as they’re available?
- Do you prefer watching the TV or would you like to stream on your mobile or tablet?
- Do you want access to kids’ channels?
2. Find the most satisfying service you can
With your notes from earlier, create a shopping list of must-haves and nice-to-have features and services, for your TV package. TV boxes vary by provider, so be prepared for light research to find the right one.
For example, streaming. If you want to watch Netflix on your telly, you’ll need a box like the Virgin TV 360 box that comes with the app built in. You’ll also want to consider multi-room TV services and the option to include HD channels, both of which are available with Virgin Media.
3. Shop with a budget in mind
Have a clear upper limit – know the most you’re prepared to pay monthly, so you can sort the affordable TV packages from the unrealistic.

Yes, with a subscription. The Netflix app is pre-installed on all TV 360 boxes. You just need to sign in on your account to start streaming on your telly or sign up for Netflix – first timers can add your Netflix bill to your Virgin Media bill.
Yes, you can get a TV, broadband and phone bundle if our services are available in your area. Use our broadband postcode checker to see what package deals you can get where you live. Having all three services in one package with the same provider can be a good way to save and some deals will even include an unlimited mobile sim. Digital TV is now the only service type available in the UK. All providers have switched from traditional analogue to powerful digital signals, so you can get better picture and sound quality, as well as on demand services and a wider range of channels.
Our superfast broadband cables deliver Virgin TV to your home. Meanwhile, other providers may use a digital satellite dish and you could also watch (digital terrestrial) Freeview channels.
Yes. To watch, stream and record live telly, download catch up and use On Demand services, including BBC iPlayer, you do need to apply for a TV licence.
Yes. Use the free Virgin TV Go streaming service anywhere there’s internet connection in the UK, including at home – all our broadband packages are designed for smooth streaming.
You can register up to five of your devices with the TV Go app and website, then watch Virgin TV 360 on up to two at the same time. You can also download shows in the UK to watch offline, wherever you are in the world.
Yes. You can record 6 shows and movies at the same time, even while watching BBC iPlayer, Netflix or a recording. Best of all, you don’t even need to be home to set it up. With the free TV Go app, you can control the Virgin TV 360 box from anywhere in the world.

TV 360 is streamed over WiFi – there’s no dish . That makes Virgin TV easy for you to install, with a free QuickStart kit. As these often tend to arrive much quicker than an engineer can get to you, you could enjoy your new telly sooner than you’d expect.
