We’re into December and while lots of us are starting to think about winding down as we eye our fifth mince pie of the day (it’s the season!), sport does the opposite. Like the big beard in the North Pole, this is the time of the year when operations ramp up. That means you’re never far from truly massive sporting action on Virgin TV this week (Monday 27 November to Sunday 3 December).

With the men’s football international break a distant memory (and some of those ties were barely a memory), British sides are back in Europe, and there are some mouth-watering ties in the UEFA Champions League, including Newcastle United travelling to face off against Kylian Mbappé and PSG. Current holders Manchester City and Arsenal host RB Leipzig and Lens respectively, while Manchester United travel to Galatasaray.

Meanwhile on Thursday night, Liverpool and West Ham will hope to put their UEFA Europa League group campaigns to bed with wins against LASK and TSC Backa Topola. Aston Villa will be looking to use their evening to create some air between themselves and Legia Warszawa, both currently on 9 points in their UEFA Europa Conference League group.

There’s plenty more football from the Premier League, EFL Championship, the FA Cup, Serie A, Bundesliga, plus UEFA Women’s Nations League action and the long-awaited draw for UEFA Euro 2024.

In snooker, the UK Championship – the first of this season’s Triple Crown events – is underway in York. Last year, Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen beat China’s Ding Junhui in a pulsating final. With the conclusion on Sunday 3 December and a prize of £250,000 up for grabs (a nice early Christmas present), the frames will come thick and fast.

And with golf, cricket, basketball, badminton, squash, horse racing and more on top of all that, it’s another packed week of live sport on your Virgin TV channels.
